WIN Water Meeting with Sandberg Development – April 10, 2025 | Jägersro, Sweden

In April 2025, REFRAME was selected by WIN Water to present its project during the meeting with Sandberg Development and industrial investors in Jägersro, Sweden.

REFRAME is a European research project with a clear ambition: to support the transition of wastewater treatment plants from cost-intensive infrastructure to resource-efficient platforms for bioproduct recovery, combining applied research, process engineering and industrial relevance.
During the meeting, REFRAME presented its approach to integrating validated technologies into existing wastewater treatment systems, aiming to improve energy efficiency, reduce environmental impact and enable value creation.

The discussion with investors and industrial stakeholders was highly constructive and focused on a key challenge shared by many innovation-driven projects: scalability.
Beyond technological feasibility, the dialogue addressed critical aspects such as technology readiness level (TRL), CAPEX and OPEX implications, risk mitigation and time-to-market, all essential elements for bridging the gap between research outcomes and full-scale implementation.

WIN Water once again proved to be a strategic innovation ecosystem, fostering concrete interaction between research, industry and investment, and providing a valuable platform where technologies are challenged against real industrial and market expectations.

Looking back at this meeting, it is clear that the transition towards more circular and resource-efficient wastewater treatment systems is no longer a future vision, but a present challenge that requires collaboration, industrial pragmatism and committed investment.
